We really need to push for electric vehicles, but we must ensure that they are recharged from green generated electricity and that the vehicles are made in this country.

The tax system could be used even more aggressively to ensure this outcome. Declining population would lead to less demand for Road, Rail and Runway building. Indeed as aviation is one of the worst polluters aviation fuel needs to be taxed more heavily including fuel bought into the country on aircraft to prevent the avoidance of tax by aircraft making a return journey to a place of low fuel tax without refuelling in this country.
